Barbara Ann (McMillan) McGrann

Barbara McMillan McGrann was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, nurse and friend during her incredible 98 years of life. She passed peacefully on Saturday January, 28th 2023. The world won’t be the same without the love and kindness to all she knew. Barbara lived a beautiful, dignified life.

She made it her mission to care for the sick and injured through her work. As a pediatric nurse in Watertown, NY she realized that there were a number of under privileged children not receiving primary care. With fellow pediatric doctors and nurses, they created the North Country Family Health Center. Over 12,000 children per year have been treated in 3 counties since its inception in 1971.  Barbara’s passions were spending time with family, travel, reading and quilting as well as getting together with friends for bridge.

Mrs. McGrann was predeceased by her husband Donald F. McGrann.  She is survived by her 5 chidlren  Julia (Dennis) Dougherty, Martha (Mark) Ryan, Sheila (James) Shalleck, Karl (Sharon) McGrann and Donald McGrann.  Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 1:30 PM at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd, Charlotte, NC, 28210.  Burial will take place in Evergreen City Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Country Family Health Center,  238 Arsenal St, Watertown, NY 13601 in Barbara’s name.   Barbara will dearly missed by all.
