Carol Frances (Sorochinsky) Washburn 

August 13, 1936 - October 9, 2021

Carol Washburn, 85, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on Oct. 9, 2021.   Carol was predeceased by her loving and cherished husband of 46 years, James (JD), in 2001. Carol and JD lived a fulfilled and happy life together in Endicott, NY, Böblingen, Germany and, from 1978, in Charlotte.  Throughout their marriage, Carol and JD were an inspiration to many through their strong faith and compassion as well as their hard work and determination.   Carol remained true to those values and they guided her through the remainder of her life.  

Carol will be dearly missed by her children:   James Washburn, Susan Boyd (Denny) and Mary Ellen Bridges (Wade), and her grandchildren:  Julian Washburn, Clara Washburn, Jackson Bridges and Caroline Bridges.  Carol is survived by two siblings: Ellen Zemanick and John Sorochinsky and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by two siblings:  Frank Sorochinsky and Mary Terry.

In her last years, Carol remained close to many including her niece Sonja Sorochinsky.   Carol was lucky to have the support and friendship of many friends and caretakers in Charlotte which her children are very thankful for.

A funeral service will be held at St. Gabriel Church on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 11 AM.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
