Deandre Mckye Hagler, 21, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023.
Deandre was born on December 20, 2001, at Atrium Health University, to Derrick Hagler and Karen DeLesline (Largo) in Charlotte, NC. As a little boy he loved playing video games, swimming, going to Carowinds, Myrtle Beach and being around family, enjoying cookouts, singing, rapping, and dancing.
Deandre was involved in many activities during his adolescent days, he participated in Boy Scouts of America, he played football and if you know him, his one true love was basketball. He played for several basketball programs earning many achievements and accolades throughout the years. Deandre made sure to play anywhere he could, outside in 90 degrees all summer, at the YMCA almost daily, it did not matter so long as there was a hoop and a ball.Deandre graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in June of 2020. Although he was taking his time to truly figure out and navigate this thing called life he had dreams of one day attending barber school to become a barber.
Deandre was a stranger to no one and found great purpose being around those he loved. He was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those around him and embraced anyone that came into his life. He loved meeting new people and enjoyed family, at times it felt like it was a talent show on the weekends dancing and singing that took place when we all gathered. From New Edition, If it isn’t love, to Busta Rhymes, Pass The Courvoisier, NBA Young Boy or singing Chris Brown it was the best of times. He had such an infectious smile and loving energy which defined his character and was bound to elicit a series of stories for those who knew or just met Deandre.
Deandre is preceded by his grandfather Richard Green (paternal) and Grandmother Daphne Largo (maternal). He is survived by his parents Derrick Hagler and Karen DeLesline (Mark DeLesline), his siblings Quashawn Hagler, Deasia Hagler, Mashiya DeLesline, Donavahn Hagler, Mark DeLesline Jr, Christina DeLesline, Dianesti Hagler and Dakari Hagler, his niece Kehlani Hagler and nephew Casyn Barnes, his grandfather Kevin Hawkins (maternal), grandmother Marion Hagler (paternal), Grandaunt Yolanda Largo, Aunt Jennifer Williams and Autumn Hagler, Uncle Clifton Hagler, Godparents Clinton Smith and Charlise Windsor and, God brother Nadiv Smith.
