Iva Stanley Wagner, 91, of Charlotte, NC, completed her earthly journey in the early morning hours of October 26. She was born in Meadows of Dan, VA, to the late James and Etta Stanley. One of six siblings, Iva was preceded in death by her parents, brother Hassell and wife Evelyn, sister Ardith and husband Forest, brother Leland and wife Theral, and brother-in-law Mark Morris. She has two remaining siblings: her twin brother Arville, who she has always had a special bond with, and his wife Betty, and her sister Glennis.
Iva was married to Glenn Wagner for 56 years and had two daughters, Barby and Patti. They lived for a time in Hyattsville, MD before being transferred to Charlotte, where they lived for over 50 years. In her younger days, Iva worked at the Pentagon as a keypunch operator. After moving to Charlotte, she worked at Barclays American for several years. Glenn preceded her in death.
Iva was very active in her church, Memorial United Methodist, for many years. She participated in the United Methodist Women for years, and was once voted Woman of the Year. One of her greatest joys was working as a Stephens Minister. She and Glenn were also able to go to the Holy Land with a group from their church.
Iva loved her daughters. Besides always being there for them no matter what they were doing, she made their clothes and taught them many, many songs. She also loved her sons-in-law, grandsons, and late greatgranddaughter. She loved being with her grandsons and family meals with everyone gathered around her. She is survived by daughters Barby Baucom (Nelson) of Sherrills Ford, NC, and Patti Campbell (Harry) of Indian Land, SC, and grandsons Josh, Kevin, and Chris Campbell. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved. There was a special place in her heart for Kathy Nguyen, who she adopted as a "granddaughter".
A service to celebrate Iva's life will be held on Friday, October 29th at 11AM at Memorial United Methodist Church, 4012 Central Avenue, Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM at the church. Burial will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.
