Laura Elaine (Doby) Chapman

Laura Doby Chapman, 75, of Charlotte, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at her residence on November 16, 2022.  A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 2pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Charlotte, officiated by Pastor Emily Hartner. 

Laura was born in Albemarle, NC to Tommy “Cannon” and Ethel Doby.  She graduated from Albemarle High School in 1965 and attended Kings Business College.  She worked at Pyramid Insurance for 15 years.  She spent the rest of her career at Novant Health-Presbyterian Hospital.  She retired from Presbyterian Hospital in 2015 after 33 years of dedicated service.  She was a member of Executive Women International for numerous years.

Laura was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Charlotte.  She was a faithful servant of God.  She served on Church Council, coordinated luncheons, and was always ready and available to help in any way she could.  Laura loved to cook and entertain, and her holiday luncheons were always something that her friends looked forward to.  Laura remembered every birthday, anniversary, and special occasion.  Her special notes will be greatly missed.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer and husband Tyler Ramsey, and grandchildren Ella and Ava.  She is also survived by her sister, Linda “Dobie” Hall and husband, Jerry, and several nieces and nephews.  Laura’s grandchildren were the light of her eyes.  She loved them fiercely and was a fixture at their school events, soccer games, proms, etc.
