Mary James Obituary

Mary Frances Payne passed away on Feb. 6, 2022. Mary was born on April 16, 1928, the daughter of Jesse Eugene and Dicie Groves Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She lived most of her life in Charlotte and was a bookkeeper and accountant for many of her working years. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. James, her parents, brothers Frank E., Donald R. and William (Bill) Anderson, sisters Geneva Anderson and Margaret Sullivan. She is survived by a sister, Cindy Gardner and husband Marty of Charlotte, N.C., stepson Evan James of Lakewood Ranch, Fl., stepdaughter Margaret Wehling of Torrance, Ca., and several nieces and nephews.

Mary will be missed by her friends and family. She was known for the strength of her character and the love and warmth in her smile.
