Richard "Dick" John Rademacher

Richard John Rademacher (Dick Rademacher),was born on December 11, 1931, in Lansing, Michigan.  He was the seventh of eight children born to Herman Rademacher and Josephine Schafer.  Dick graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1950 and served in the US Army at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.

On September 1, 1952, he married Martha Ann Wilcox at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lansing.  They had 5 children: daughter Patricia and sons Richard (Linda), John (Peggy), Douglas (Wendy), and Timothy (Kim).

Dick studied architecture at Michigan State University, 1960 to 1963 while working for the Highway Department at the State of Michigan. He then worked at Toolan’s Delicatessen in Lansing, Michigan, (owned by his brother Robert (Toby) Rademacher) until 1981.

Richard and Martha moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he worked as a contractor.  They also lived in Forest City, North Carolina and Northport, Michigan before returning to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2009.

Dick passed away on Christmas morning, December 25, 2022 at the age of 91.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Martha Ann (died in 2015).  He is survived by his 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
