Thelma Palmer McLaughlin was born on the top of a beautiful high hill, in a log cabin in northern Minnesota, July 7th, 1931. As the youngest of 12, she lived her life surrounded by a loving family. She died at the age of 90, peacefully in her sleep, in early February of this year. Her last words were to her children, and she told them "I love you forever".
As a registered nurse, our mother took her Hippocratic oath seriously. She lived a life of good will, courage and brilliance. Her dedication to others, their health and rights was stellar. As children, we stopped with our mother and father at every single car accident we ever saw. She saved many lives, with no thanks needed. Thelma's friends found her extremely loyal, hilariously funny, and dedicated to truth and love.
Thelma was proceeded in death by the love of her life, her husband Ike; to who she was married for nearly 60 years; her parents, her 11 brothers, sisters and their spouses. She is survived by her four lucky children, and the flower of her life, her beloved grandson, Jordan, She is also survived bya host of Nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren. All of them loved their Auntie Thelma.
Our mother spoke her truth to the end, even when she was barely able to speak. She laughed to the end, and held the hands of all her caregivers, making sure they knew she loved them, and appreciated them. In the end, she spoke as she always had, with courage and truth.
Please know that we are the lucky ones to have had the blessing of our mother for so long. If you would like to give a memorial gift, we welcome you to donate to Hospice.
Love never ends.
The world is still a beautiful place.
We love you, Mama.
