Wayne C. Mackenzie died on December 10, 2021, after a period of declining health. He was born on December 6, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest child of the late Harry W.R. and Isabel Henderson (Craig) Mackenzie.
After serving four years in the US Air Force, Wayne was employed for over 30 years as Physical Plant Manager for IBM. His strong work ethic and mentorship earned him recognition throughout his career.

Wayne’s second marriage was to Janet Hard in 1972 until her death on February 25, 1995.
Wayne later married Shirley Patterson. Shirley died on September 14, 2013.
Wayne enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and throughout retirement. He completed a variety of projects (many with oak - his favored wood) for himself and family members.
Wayne’s mechanical ability became evident at an early age when he built a Hot Rod from the ground up at age 18. He built a race car while living in Poughkeepsie, NY and later a Shelby Cobra he delighted in taking others for swift, breezy rides in around the Marshville area.
Wayne was predeceased by his sister Margaret (Marge) Churchill, and brothers Harry, Russell, and Raymond. He leaves his children, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Elva Mackenzie, and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was also blessed with kind and caring friends in his Polk Mountain Drive neighborhood in Marshville.
Wayne was a member of the Mt Moriah United Methodist Church in Marshville, where he will be interred. A graveside memorial service will be held January 10, 2022 at 1pm.
