William Larry Lancaster, 85 of Concord, passed on September 3, 2022t his home. He was born July 30, 1937 in Concord to the late Henry and Evelyn B. Lancaster.
Larry at an early age had a love of mechanics and old cars. In 1958 he opened his own business, Lancaster’s Garage and Wrecker Service, where he operated it successfully for 52 years until his retirement. His red and yellow wreckers were known throughout the area in towing cars and large trucks. His mechanics, mentoring skills, giving, and assisting those in need was always on unspoken priority with his employees, customers and businesses with people telling him later in life how much they were taught and appreciated him. In 2004 he was given the honor of being inducted into the International Towing Recovery Hall of fame.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 7th from 11:30 AM to 1:00PM at the Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr. NW, Concord with the service following at 1:00PM. The Reverend Michael Waters will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife and business partner of 65 years, Francelia “Fran” Wentz Lancaster; four children, Lori L. Huie (Tim), Larry S. “Scott” (Robin), Leonard M. “Lanny” (Shannon) and Ladd M. (Parrish) Lancaster; 10 grandchildren: Heath, Hunter, Hannah, Harrison, Lindsey, LeAnn, Larken, Lainey Rose, Jordan and Jackson; 9 great grandchildren: Hutch, Hallie, Cora, Cannon, Hampton, Sharpe, Shepherd, Scout and Claire; sisters, Shirley Hathcock, Judy Talbert, Brenda Lewis and a brother, Alan Lancaster.
